We are delighted to see that “The Lie Tree” by Frances Hardinge is the winner of this year’s Costa Book of the Year. The award is judged for the most outstanding books of the year in 5 categories : First Novel, Novel, Biography, Poetry and Children’s Book – with the winner of one of the categories then being chosen as Book of the Year. Frances is only the second author from the Children’s category to win the overall prize – the first was Philip Pullman.
The Award Ceremony and Frances’ acceptance speech was covered by the BBC News.
Frances visited Bolton School in May 2015 to talk to year 9 pupils about The Lie Tree and her earlier novels. A write up of the visit can be found here. All of her novels including The Lie Tree can be borrowed from our Libraries, please just ask!
